On Saturday, April 6th, Ambulance 849C, along with Laurel Police, was dispatched to the 14000 block of Laurel Place for a reported medical emergency. While en route, Public Safety Communications advised of two additional patients experiencing similar symptoms.
Upon arrival, crews detected a strong odor of chlorine inside the building. A Hazmat assignment was immediately requested, and the building was evacuated as a precaution. Fire department personnel conducted a thorough search and identified a chlorine leak originating from the pool maintenance closet.
A triage area was established, and approximately 20 individuals were evaluated on scene. Four patients—three adults and one child—were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The source of the leak was quickly contained and mitigated. No further injuries have been reported.
