Hayes “Eddie” Ricks Joined the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad in April 1964.

He served on numerous committees – Activities, Rules and Regulations and as a Liaison with the Fire Department. He was a member of the squad’s competition team at the IRFAA First Aid Competition in the 70’s. Eddie also held operational officer ranks up to Squad Captain.

He was voted into Life membership in 1985 with over 3000 recorded calls.

After becoming life, Eddie continued to support many organizations of the Laurel Area. He continued to support the Rescue Squad but was also a life member at the Fire Department, Company 10. He was a Laurel City Council member, where his continued support of public safety and the the Rescue Squad was much appreciated.

Eddie you will be missed and your contribution to not only the Rescue Squad but to the Laurel area will not be forgotten, rest in peace.
